On thursday, I attended the reception opening of the anatomy of wishes, a photographed and documented investigation into the science behind dandelions and what makes wishes come true. There’s many things I like about this work, from the way it draws on 19th century inspiration to the lightheartedness and the curiosity of the images themselves, but my favorite part about it is the realism. Even though we know it SEEMS impossible for wishes to come true, the work makes you think about another timeline where maybe something like that could actually happen.
